Free European roulette: play online with no sign-up
Play free European roulette below with no download, no sign-up and no deposit. European roulette has a single zero, which gives it much better odds than the American version. Use our two demos to learn the bets and payouts with virtual chips first. Like all our games, they are for adults aged 18 and over.

We have two free European roulette demos for you to try. Both of them use a single-zero wheel, so the odds are the same. However, the layout and extra features differ, so check each game’s help screen for its exact rules.

How to play free European roulette
The wheel has 37 numbered pockets: 1 to 36, alternating red and black, plus a single green zero. Before each spin, you place chips on the table to predict where the ball will land. Then the wheel spins. When the ball settles, winning bets are paid and losing bets are cleared.
- First, choose a chip value.
- Next, place inside bets on numbers, outside bets on groups of numbers, or both.
- Then press spin and watch the ball.
- Finally, check the result and your balance, and change your bets if you like.
Also, every spin is independent. So a number that has not come up for a while is no more “due” than any other.
European roulette bets and payouts
| Bet | Numbers covered | Pays | Chance of winning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Straight up | 1 | 35 to 1 | 2.70% |
| Split | 2 | 17 to 1 | 5.41% |
| Street | 3 | 11 to 1 | 8.11% |
| Corner | 4 | 8 to 1 | 10.81% |
| Six line | 6 | 5 to 1 | 16.22% |
| Dozen or column | 12 | 2 to 1 | 32.43% |
| Red or black, odd or even, 1–18 or 19–36 | 18 | 1 to 1 | 48.65% |
Notice that every bet pays slightly less than its true odds. For example, a straight-up bet covers 1 of 37 numbers, yet it pays 35 to 1 rather than 36 to 1. Therefore, that small gap is where the casino’s edge comes from. Many tables also offer “call bets” on sections of the wheel, such as neighbours of zero. These are simply groups of the bets above, so they carry the same edge.
Free European roulette odds and house edge
The house edge on European roulette is 2.70% on every standard bet. That figure is 1 divided by 37, because of the single zero. Put simply, for every £100 staked over a very long run, the game is designed to keep about £2.70. Short sessions swing a lot, though. That is exactly why free European roulette is useful: you can see how often each bet lands without paying for the lesson.
However, no betting system changes the edge. Strategies such as the Martingale, where you double your stake after each loss, only change the pattern of wins and losses. Eventually, a long losing run or the table limit stops the system, and the edge stays at 2.70%.
To put the odds in context, red or black wins 18 times in every 37 spins on average, which is slightly less than half the time. Similarly, a single number lands once in 37 spins on average. In a short demo session, however, you may see a number repeat several times or not appear at all. That is normal variance, not a pattern.
European vs American roulette
American roulette adds a double zero, so its wheel has 38 pockets. Because the payouts stay the same, the house edge rises to 5.26%. Worse still, its five-number bet on 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3 has an edge of 7.89%. French roulette, by contrast, uses the single-zero wheel and often adds the La Partage rule. Under that rule, you get half of an even-money bet back if the ball lands on zero. As a result, the edge on those bets falls to 1.35%.

Playing roulette for real money
Of course, free play is all you need to enjoy the game. If you do play for real, choose a casino licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, and look for single-zero tables. Then set a budget and a deposit limit before you start, and treat any money you stake as the cost of entertainment. Our UK casino reviews explain what each licensed site offers. You can also block all UK-licensed gambling sites with GAMSTOP.
