Free baccarat: play online with no sign-up

Play free baccarat below with no download, no sign-up and no deposit. Baccarat is one of the simplest casino card games to learn, because you only choose to back the Player, the Banker or a Tie. Our demo shows you how the drawing rules and payouts work, using virtual chips. It is for adults aged 18 and over.

How to play free baccarat

In baccarat you do not play a hand yourself. Instead, you bet on which of two hands will finish closer to 9: the Player hand or the Banker hand. You can also bet on a Tie.

  1. First, place your chips on Player, Banker or Tie.
  2. Next, two cards are dealt to each hand.
  3. Then a third card may be drawn to either hand, following fixed rules.
  4. Finally, the hand closest to 9 wins, and winning bets are paid.

As for scoring, cards 2 to 9 count at face value. Tens, jacks, queens and kings count as zero, while an ace counts as 1. Only the last digit of a total counts, so 7 plus 8 makes 15, which counts as 5. If either hand totals 8 or 9 with its first two cards, that is a “natural”. In that case, both hands stand and no more cards are drawn.

Baccarat third-card rules

The Player hand draws a third card on a total of 0 to 5, and stands on 6 or 7. The Banker’s rules depend on its own total and on the Player’s third card:

Banker totalBanker draws when the Player’s third card is
0 to 2Always draws
3Any card except 8
42 to 7
54 to 7
66 or 7
7Always stands

If the Player stands with two cards, the Banker draws on 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7. You never need to remember any of this, because the game applies the rules for you. Still, watching them play out in a free game shows why the Banker hand wins slightly more often.

Banker1 to 1, minus 5% commission1.06%
Tie8 to 114.36%

The Banker hand wins slightly more often than the Player hand because of the drawing rules. For that reason, casinos charge commission on Banker wins. The Tie bet pays well, but it also carries a much higher edge. Some tables pay 9 to 1 on a Tie instead, which lowers its edge to about 4.84%. In most games, Player and Banker bets are returned when the hand is a Tie.

Baccarat strategy: what works and what doesn’t

There are no decisions to make after you bet, so strategy comes down to bet choice and money management. Statistically, though, the Banker bet offers the best value, followed closely by the Player bet. Many players follow scorecards of past results, but each hand is independent, so past results cannot predict the next one. Likewise, staking systems cannot beat the house edge. Free baccarat is therefore best used to learn the game, not to test a system.

Playing baccarat for real money

If you decide to play for real, choose a casino licensed by the UK Gambling Commission. UK-licensed sites must verify your age before you play, even on their demo games. Before you start, set a budget and a deposit limit, and stop when it is no longer fun. Our UK casino reviews explain what each licensed site offers, and our gambling glossary explains unfamiliar terms. You can also block all UK-licensed gambling sites with GAMSTOP.
