Casino promo codes: when you need one and how to use it
Casino promo codes are short words or strings, such as WELCOME50, that you enter to unlock a particular offer. Some UK casino deals need one and many don’t. Get it wrong and you can miss the bonus entirely. Here’s how casino promo codes work, where to enter them, and the checks that stop a code costing you money.
What casino promo codes do
A promo code (also called a bonus code or offer code) tells the casino which promotion you want. Casinos use them to run several offers at once, to track where a player came from, or to give a deal to one group of customers, such as people who opted in to emails.
A code doesn’t change the offer’s terms. The wagering, expiry, maximum bet and game rules are the same as for anyone else who claims that offer.
Do you need a promo code?
Check the offer’s terms. They will say one of three things:
- No code needed: the offer is added automatically when you sign up or deposit, or when you tick an opt-in box.
- Code at sign-up: you type it into a field on the registration form.
- Code at deposit: you enter it on the cashier page before you pay.
If the terms mention a code, enter it exactly as written. Many casinos can’t add the offer afterwards if you forget it.
How to use a casino promo code
- Read the full terms, including the minimum deposit and eligible payment methods.
- Start the sign-up or deposit, and find the field marked “promo code”, “bonus code” or “offer code”.
- Type the code exactly, with no extra spaces.
- Make the qualifying deposit or bet.
- Check the bonus or spins have appeared before you play. If not, contact support straight away.
Promo code pitfalls to avoid
- Out-of-date codes: codes end without notice. Use the code shown on the casino’s own offer page or a trusted, recently updated source.
- “Secret” or leaked codes: codes meant for other players may be refused, and using them can break the terms.
- Wrong payment method: some offers exclude certain e-wallets, so the code works but the bonus doesn’t.
- Unlicensed sites: a code is never a reason to play at a casino that isn’t licensed in Great Britain.
Are promo code offers better?
Not necessarily. A code is just a key. Judge the offer behind it the same way as any other: the size of the bonus, the wagering (no more than 10 times in Great Britain since 19 January 2026), the expiry date and the game rules.
For example, 50 free spins with no wagering can be worth more than a £50 bonus with 10 times wagering. Our casino deal checklist walks through the comparison, and our guide to bonus expiry explains the time limits.
Casino promo code FAQs
Do all casino offers need a promo code?
No. Many UK welcome offers are added automatically. The terms will say if a code is required.
What if I forgot to enter a promo code?
Contact customer support straight away. Some casinos will add the offer, but many can’t once the deposit has been made.
Can I use more than one promo code?
Usually not for the same offer. Most welcome bonuses are one per person and household.
Are casino promo codes free?
Yes. You should never pay for a code. Anyone selling one is a red flag.
