Every casino review on The Casino Deals follows the same method, so you can compare ratings fairly. This page explains how we review casinos: who writes our reviews, what we check, how we work out the star rating and how we keep reviews up to date.
Who we are and why we review casinos
Our reviews are researched and written by The Casino Deals team. We’re an independent UK comparison site. We don’t run a casino and aren’t owned by one. We only review casinos licensed by the UK Gambling Commission.
How we review casinos: what we check
We score each casino out of 5 in six areas:
- Licensing and safety: a current UK Gambling Commission licence, who runs the casino, its track record and any regulatory action on the public register.
- Payments: the deposit and withdrawal methods on offer, minimum deposits and how quickly withdrawals are processed.
- Games: the size and quality of the slots, table games and live casino, and the software providers behind them.
- App and usability: the iOS and Android apps and the mobile site, and how easy it is to find games, your account and help.
- Bonus fairness: how clear and achievable the current welcome offer is, including wagering requirements, time limits and caps on winnings.
- Safer gambling and support: deposit limits, time-outs, self-exclusion, GAMSTOP, reality checks and how easy it is to reach customer support.
How we score and review casinos
Each area gets a score from 1 to 5. The six areas count equally, and the overall rating is their average, rounded to one decimal place. The breakdown for each casino appears in its review under “How we rated”, so you can see where a casino did well and where it lost marks.
As a guide, most well-run UK casinos score between 3.5 and 4.6. A score above 4.5 means the casino is strong in almost every area. A score below 3.5 means we found real weaknesses you should know about before you sign up.
Where our information comes from
- The casino’s own terms and conditions, help pages and promotion pages.
- The UK Gambling Commission’s public register, to confirm the licence and the company behind it.
- App store listings, for app availability.
- Independent reviews and news, only to cross-check facts, never as the only source.
If we can’t confirm a detail, such as an exact withdrawal time, we leave it out or tell you to check with the casino, rather than guess.
Keeping reviews up to date
Each review shows the date it was last checked. We re-check a review when the casino changes its welcome offer or terms, and look over all of our reviews regularly. Offers and features change often, so always read the full terms on the casino’s site before you deposit.
