Since 2025, there’s been a limit on how much you can stake on an online slot in Great Britain. Here’s what it is, and who it applies to.
If you’re 25 or over, the most you can stake is £5 a spin. That limit came in on the 9th of April 2025.
If you’re aged 18 to 24, the limit is lower: £2 a spin. That one started on the 21st of May 2025. Casinos use the age you verified when you opened your account, so it’s applied automatically.
Technically, it’s a limit per game cycle… from the moment you press spin until the round is settled. Free spins triggered inside a bonus round don’t count as extra stakes.
It only covers online slots. Table games like roulette and blackjack aren’t included, and it doesn’t apply to machines in arcades or betting shops, which have their own rules.
It sits alongside other slot rules that have been in place since 2021: no spins faster than two and a half seconds, no autoplay, and no celebrations when you’ve actually won less than you staked.
The idea is simple: slower, smaller-stakes play. If you want to go further, you can set your own deposit limits in your account. 18+. Please gamble responsibly.
